Daffodils and Daylilies: Perfect Partners in the Garden

A fantastic way to decorate your garden is to have both daffodils and daylilies in it. They are perfect partners. You will have a wonderful addition to the landscaping of your home. They also grow very well together so you don’t have to worry about one time of flowers you planted flourishing while the other doesn’t do so well.

Generally you will be able to reap the rewards of planting these two types of flowers in the spring time. The good news is that both of them have a long survival rate so you will be able to enjoy them for quite a while each year. What you will find is that the daylilies are going to be blooming a bit later than the daffodils.

This will provide you with great coverage for the extra foliage of the daffodils. That part of them may not look so great. However, it is essential to not remove them because that is part of how you will get lovely daffodils the following year. The daylilies are going to hide that this process is going on. As a result you will have a very colorful and gorgeous garden that takes your breath away.

The good news is that you will be able to plant both the daffodils and the daylilies at the same time. The fall is the best time of year to do this. Many people appreciate this because that is a time consuming process. It is easier to plant everything at once. You won’t need to get your items for the planting process out again later on to complete it.

Both of these types of flowers grow well in full sun with a bit of shade during the day. They need about the same amount of water so you won’t have to worry about one type of them getting too much or not enough when you plant them together. You will also find that you don’t have too many problems with weeds or pests when you have these types of flowers in your garden.

In order to get the right effect with the use of daffodils and daylilies though you need to make sure you plant them properly. You want to use four daffodils and two daylilies for every square foot of garden area. Make sure you space them out about six inches so that they will each have plenty of room to grow from the bulbs.

If you have been thinking about planting flowers, consider both daffodils and daylilies. They look spectacular together in the garden due to their colors and physical appearance. They also will look great in a vase arrangement for you to share with someone else or to place inside of your home.
